Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

Ortus Recruitment is partnering with a welcoming and high-achieving primary school in Lambeth to recruit a dedicated Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant for a full-time position starting in September 2026. This role is ideal for graduates considering careers in educational psychology, teaching, speech and language therapy, or child mental health.
Working Monday to Friday during school hours, you’ll support class teachers in delivering engaging lessons while providing additional academic and emotional support to pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and those who benefit from extra encouragement in the classroom.
Your Responsibilities
- Assist teachers with the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils across the primary age range.
- Help children develop confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours.
- Support pupils with additional learning needs, including SEN where required.
- Encourage a safe, nurturing, and positive classroom environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team to support pupil progress.
We’re Looking For Someone Who Has
- A degree in Psychology or another relevant subject such as English, Maths, Science, Performing Arts, or Education.
- A genuine interest in supporting children’s learning and development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills and a reliable, professional approach.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Previous experience working with children is highly desirable. This could include experience in schools, tutoring, youth work, sports coaching, childcare, mentoring, holiday clubs, voluntary work, or similar settings. However, enthusiastic graduates with transferable skills are encouraged to apply.
