SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant – Reception (Willesden)
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Willesden is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in Reception on a full-time basis.
This rewarding role involves providing tailored, one-to-one support for a young girl with Down’s syndrome, as well as visual and hearing impairments. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping her access learning, develop communication skills, and thrive within the classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
- Adapt learning materials to meet the pupil’s individual needs
- Support communication using appropriate strategies and tools
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), ideally including Down’s syndrome
- Understanding of supporting pupils with visual and hearing impairments (desirable)
- Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s development
