SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Special Educational Needs & Behaviour Support)
Are you a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs? We are a specialist recruitment agency seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a welcoming primary school environment.
This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and behavioural challenges, helping them to engage positively with learning and develop essential social and emotional skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN and behavioural needs
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
- Support the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs)
- Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour using positive strategies
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
- Encourage independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing in pupils
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH) is highly desirable
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Relevant qualifications or training in education or childcare (preferred but not essential)
