SEN Teaching Assistant

Ortus recruitment are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant with experience to support a KS1 pupil 1:1 with SEN. This mainstream primary school has a ‘Good’ Ofsted report with a great senior leadership team that will provide the resources needed to help vulnerable pupils in the school.

The Role:

The role will require you to work with a pupil KS1 and provide 1:1 support to your key child with SEN. When working with your key child your day-to-day task will entail working alongside the Year 2 Class Teacher, adapting to their teaching style and supporting the child with their learning according to their needs. This is a rewarding role with the opportunity for career progression in a primary school setting with a school that is very welcoming with a very supportive team. The primary school’s working hours will be 08:30am till 16:00pm from Monday to Friday.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a core subject (Maths, English, Science, Psychology, Drama)
  • Have experience working with children in a professional environment
  • Have experience working with SEN experience (desirable)
  • Be able to develop positive relationships with young children
  • Committed to working as part of a team in conjunction with the class teacher, and under direction of the leadership team, ensure that the progress of children is monitored and tracked
  • Excellent time management
  • Able to provide regular feedback to class teachers
  • Able to stay calm and objective when presented with unusual or challenging behaviour
