A SEN Primary School located in the London Borough of  Lewisham, Grove Park. This school caters to a range of different Special Educational Needs including ASC, ADHD, SEMH (challenging behaviour) and SLD. The school are Ofsted rated ‘Good’ and are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to start immediately and hit the ground running.

• Will have experience working alongside SEN children or adults either in a care, residential, school or social setting. Experience with vulnerable adult/young people is also welcome.

• Will be able to build a positive rapport with the pupils and staff
• Will be confident in working 1:1 and in small groups
• Will have a clear Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the update service or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment – £52

The main responsibilities:

• Work alongside the Class Teacher supporting a Year 6 class with 8 pupils, providing support to the whole class and 1:1 or small group support where necessary
• Assist the teacher in maintaining an inclusive learning environment and ensuring the pupils are engaged with learning and have the necessary support
• Liaise with the Class Teacher, Professionals (Speech and Language therapists) and the SENCO to implement their IEP (individual education plan)
• Communicate with the parents/carers to provide feedback and pupil progress
• Undertake administrative duties such as marking work, photocopying/laminating work as well as signing reading diaries
• Supervise the students on enrichment activities and around the school building, including in the lunch hall and playground
