SEN Teaching Assistant (September 2026 Start)

Ortus Recruitment is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join one of our welcoming partner mainstream primary schools, located just a 10-minute walk from Streatham Hill Station. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and wants to make a positive impact in an inclusive school environment.

The school has been recognised with a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating and is committed to providing high-quality education and support for every pupil. They are looking for a proactive and compassionate individual to become a valued member of their team from September 2026.This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm, on a long-term basis with the potential to secure a permanent role.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A creative, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting children’s learning and development.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative school team.
  • Excellent time management, reliability, and attendance.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience supporting children in a school or educational setting, or transferable experience working with young people through:
    • Youth clubs
    • Private nannying
    • Sports coaching
    • Voluntary work
    • Childminding
    • Tutoring
    • Other child-focused roles

Qualifications:

A degree in a relevant subject is desirable, including but not limited to:

  • Psychology
  • English
  • Maths
  • Science
  • Performing Arts
  • Education
