SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT – Thornton Heath

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our primary school in Thornton Heath. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and other members of the support staff to provide tailored support to pupils with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons that are inclusive and differentiated for pupils with SEN
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN
  • Monitor and report on the progress of pupils with SEN
  • Support the class teacher in managing and monitoring the behaviour of pupils with SEN
  • Attend and contribute to meetings and training sessions as required
  • Support the delivery of interventions, such as speech and language therapy and occupational therapy

Requirements:

  • Experience working with pupils with SEN in a primary school setting
  • A good understanding of a range of SEN and the strategies and resources that can be used to support them
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A good level of IT literacy
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work

This is a full-time, term-time only position. The salary will be commensurate with experience.
