Ortus Recruitment are working with an amazing school located in Wimbledon, and they are seeking a motivated SEN Teaching Assistant ready to commit to a full time – long term role, 8:30 am – 4pm , with an hour lunch break. The candidate applying for this role should have experience working with children in a professional setting and a strong understanding of the primary school curriculum.

The role :

• £80-£90 per day

What will the job role include:

Support for the pupils

• Ensure that child protection processes and safeguarding children from harm are paramount, in every aspect of the School’s work.
•  Supervise during play and lunch times and be aware of First Aid procedures.
• Support pupils with their individual learning and development needs.
• Help support pupil independent in learning and self-care 
• To assist pupils to remain on task, and encourage their attention and listening skills, so that their learning opportunities are maximised

Support for the teachers

• Maintain basic classroom resources and records.
• Contribute to the management of pupils’ behaviour, both in the classroom and out in the playground.
• Support the promotion of the Base teaching and learning strategies such as the Attention Autism approach.
•  Provide effective support for pupils during learning activities.
• Assist in the maintenance of a safe environment for all pupils and staff.

Support for the school

• Develop effective working relationships with colleagues and parents.
• Contribute to the maintenance of pupils’ safety and security.
• Be committed to the development of your own professional practice.
• Recognise confidentiality, child protection procedures, Health & Safety, and the policies of the Governing Body and the Local Authority.
• Attend Staff Training Days and other training events.
• Attend Support Staff meetings.
