Ortus Recruitment is working in close partnership with a high-achieving mainstream Primary School in Clapham to recruit a SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 pupil on a 1:1 basis. This is a full-time role starting immediately after the October half term, running through the academic year, with excellent training and development opportunities provided. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a nurturing and patient approach who is looking to build a career in education, psychology, or therapy.

Role Highlights:

• Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Year 1 Pupil)
• Start Date: Immediate – After October Half Term
• Location: Clapham, London (Excellent transport links)
• Contract: Full-time | Long-term | Term Time Only
• Pay: £89 – £105 per day (PAYE – No Umbrella Payments/No Hidden Deductions)

The Role:

• Working 1:1 with a Year 1 pupil with additional learning needs
• Supporting in and out of the classroom to help access the curriculum
• Working collaboratively with class teachers and the school’s SENCo
• Implementing tailored support strategies and learning plans
• Encouraging emotional regulation and positive behaviour

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience working with children, particularly those with SEN (desired but not essential)
• A calm, caring, and resilient nature
• Enthusiastic and confident working 1:1 with a young learner
• Willingness to learn and receive ongoing training and guidance
• Committed to working full-time for the remainder of the academic year
