Ortus Recruitment is delighted to be working alongside a welcoming and inclusive mainstream Primary School in Herne Hill, currently looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. This rewarding full-time position involves providing 1:1 support to a pupil with additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum, build confidence, and thrive within the classroom environment. The role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children’s development and making a positive difference in their educational journey. There is also strong potential for the position to continue into the next academic year for the right candidate.
The Role:
- Provide tailored 1:1 support for a pupil with additional learning needs
- Encourage independence, engagement, and confidence throughout the school day
- Work closely with the class teacher and SEN staff to adapt learning activities and support strategies
- Assist in creating a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment
- Support the pupil’s academic, social, and emotional development
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous experience working with children in a primary school setting
- Possess a good understanding of SEN and different learning needs
- Be patient, caring, adaptable, and proactive
- Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills
- Have a genuine passion for supporting children and helping them succeed
- Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
