Job Summary:

• Pay: £85 – £100 per day, PAYE – No hidden agency/umbrella company fees
• Role: Full time, Long term – Monday – Friday (08:30 – 16:00)

Here at Ortus Recruitment we are working alongside an Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ school who are seeking an experienced teaching assistant to assist the class teacher in supporting a year 4 class in a general TA role. The school is located in the London Borough of Lewisham, Bellingham and it is located in close proximity in to a well known London Underground Station as well as a number of bus stops, which makes for an easy commute.  

To be considered for this role you must have:

• A clear Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the update service or be willing to process one through Ortus Recruitment – £52
• A minimum Grade C in GCSE English and Math
• Two obtainable childcare relevant references

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience supporting children in a school setting, transferrable experiences are also welcome (coaching, nannying, tutoring, youth work)
• A strong understanding of working with children/young people
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work both independently and as a team

The role:

Within this role you will be working as a Teaching Assistant, assisting the class teacher in supporting a year 4 class. You will work directly with the children in an attempt to help them engage in learning positively.

You will assist the class teacher in preparing learning materials and run classroom activities when needed. You will need to aid the development of the children’s academic attainment levels as well encouraging calm behaviour.

You may be required to undertake administrative duties such as photocopying, laminating, marking work and updating/removing display boards. You will also be required to liaise with the class teacher and provide feedback to the parents/carers.
