Teaching Assistant – SEN Specialist School

Location: Lewisham

Salary: PAYE (£89 – £105 – Depending on experience)

Type: Full time/Long term (term time only)

Start: ASAP or after October 2025 half term

The School: Our partner school is an inclusive SEN school dedicated to supporting children with a range of learning needs, including Autism (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school prides itself on creating a nurturing and inspiring environment where every child can achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with individual learning plans (EHCPs) in small groups or one-to-one.
  • Assist the class teacher in creating engaging and accessible learning activities.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing in pupils.
  • Manage and support behaviour positively and calmly.
  • Contribute to the wider school community, including supporting enrichment and sensory activities.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN / additional needs (school or care setting).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A calm, empathetic, and adaptable approach.
  • A valid DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • A Safeguarding Certificate (or willing to complete a course via us to obtain one)
  • (Desirable) Experience with PECS, Makaton, or Team Teach training.
