A reputable ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rated mainstream primary school based in Brixton seek an experienced Teaching Assistants to support their school commencing September 2024. Our partnered primary school caters for children from the ages of 3-11 years old, have a brilliant senior leadership team and they seek a teaching assistant, who is proactive and will be a right fit for pupils. This is an amazing opportunity to be a valued role model in the school by supporting children with learning difficulties and behavioural challenges. This position will be a full-time role, Monday – Friday, working from 08.30am – 4pm. Trials will be help before the end of the academic year and candidates will need to be available to trial immediately.
The role:
The role of Teaching Assistant across the school is to promote the learning and welfare of students by providing practical and learning support to students, including those with statements of special educational needs, under the direction of the class teacher.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, Psychology, or related field preferred. (Teaching certification or relevant coursework is a plus)
- Prior experience working in an educational setting, preferably as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar capacity.
- Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities.
- Patience and empathy in working with students who may require additional support.
- Adaptability and flexibility to meet the changing needs of the classroom environment.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues and contribute positively to a team-oriented work environment.
- Basic understanding of special education needs and strategies for inclusive teaching.
- Knowledge of relevant subject matter areas, depending on the specific role and grade level.
- Availability to work regular school hours and potentially (attend occasional evening events or meetings if required by the school
- must have (or be willing to apply) a current & valid DBS – Child Workforce on the update service and 2 references to be taken in consideration for any of the roles.
