Teaching Assistant – Sheffield
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team at a thriving primary school in Sheffield. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in helping children develop academically, socially, and emotionally in a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons
- Work with small groups or individual pupils to reinforce learning objectives
- Assist in the preparation of classroom materials and resources
- Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment
- Support pupils with additional needs, including those with SEND or EAL
- Monitor and record pupil progress under the guidance of the class teacher
- Supervise pupils during breaktimes, lunchtimes, and on school outings
- Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers

- Passionate about working with children and supporting their development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work effectively as part of a team
- Patient, flexible, and resilient with a positive attitude
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Requirements
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools) – desirable
- Previous experience working in a primary school or educational setting – preferred
- GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent)
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- References required
