Year 2 Teaching Assistant

Do you have experience working with children with challenging behaviour? Do you have an assertive but patient approach to teaching and development?

Ortus Recruitment are looking to recruit a resilient and proactive individual to take on the fulfilling role of Year 2 Teaching Assistant to support and encourage a child who exhibits challenging behaviours.

**Candidates must be able to commit to a long-term and full-time role (Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 3:30pm)**

The role:

The successful individual will have a firm but fair approach and will be passionate about aiding in the acedemic, social and emotional development of children with additional needs. You will be expected to work on a 1:1 basis with the child for half of the day, the other half will be dedicated to general Teaching Assistant responsibilities such as managing classroom behaviour, keeping the classroom organised and leading interventions in small groups.

**Individuals with mentoring experience or with behaviour management experience in a school setting will be ideal!**

Main Expectations:

  • Strong behaviour management
  • Experience working with SEN children
  • Minimum 2:2 degree in a relevant subject e.g. English, Maths, Psychology
  • Strong numeracy/literacy skills
  • Knowledge of the KS1 curriculum
  • Must be able to provide: an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply for one through Ortus Recruitment), proof of Right to Work in the UK and 2 references
