Year 6 Teaching Assistant

A welcoming and mainstream Primary School in the vibrant London Borough of Barnet are looking to recruit a confident and assertive individual to support in a Year 6 class, aiding in raising attainment and building academic confidence as SATS approach for the pupils.

This is the perfect opportunity for a recent graduate with a degree in a relevant subject, looking to gain first-hand classroom experience, aiding Year pupils in their preparation for SATs.

Year 6 Teaching Assistant role:

  • Be confident and comfortable leading numeracy and literacy interventions in small groups
  • Support children with additional needs and have a positive impact on social, emotional and academic development
  • Promote a safe and comfortable learning environment
  • Help pupils engage effectively with the KS2 curriculum to raise attainment
  • Prepare pupils for SATs

Year 6 Teaching Assistant Expectations:

  • 3-6 months UKS2 classroom experience
  • Minimum 2:2 grade in relevant degree e.g. psychology or educational studies or a Cache Level qualification
  • Strong literacy, numeracy and communication skills
  • Must be able to provide: an enhanced DBS (or willing to apply for one), proof of Right to Work in the UK and 2 references

Year 6 Teaching Assistant Job Details:

  • Immediate Start
  • Long-term and full-time (Monday – Friday, 8:15am – 3:30pm)
  • Daily rate of £75 – £90 per day
  • Located in London Borough of Barnet
  • Potential for career progression and teacher training in partnership with the school
