Ortus Recruitment are working closely with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Tooting, Wandsworth, to recruit a committed and enthusiastic Classroom Assistant (SEN) to support a Year 3 class from September 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has experience supporting children in a mainstream primary setting, or a professional currently working in a specialist school looking to transition into mainstream. You’ll play a vital role in supporting pupils with additional needs within a Year 3 classroom, working alongside experienced teaching and SEN staff.

Role Overview – Year 3 Classroom Assistant (SEN):

• Provide in-class and 1:1 support to pupils in Year 3 with a range of additional needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, or social-emotional needs
• Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt lesson activities and ensure pupils are fully engaged
• Promote a positive learning environment where all children feel supported, valued, and confident
• Assist with implementing EHCP targets and managing classroom behaviour positively
• Encourage independence, resilience, and participation in learning tasks

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience working with primary-aged children, ideally in Key Stage 2
• A background in either mainstream or specialist education settings
• Confidence in supporting pupils with SEN, including ASD, SEMH, or speech and language needs
• Patience, adaptability, and a proactive, team-focused attitude
• A strong commitment to inclusive education and child development
