Primary Teaching Assistant
Ortus Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in the London Borough of Wandsworth, which is seeking a dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, and individuals with experience working with children or young people who are looking to gain valuable classroom experience within a primary school setting. The school is seeking a committed individual who can make a positive contribution to pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development throughout the academic year.
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds a degree or a Level 3 Childcare/Education-related qualification.
- Has experience working with children or young people through youth work, mentoring, tutoring, childcare, coaching, volunteering, or similar settings.
- Demonstrates a positive, friendly, and resilient attitude.
- Has a genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
- Is confident building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Is available full-time from September 2026 through to the end of the academic year.
The Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across the classroom, working closely with teachers to deliver engaging learning experiences. You may provide support on a 1:1 basis, work with small intervention groups, and assist pupils who require additional support to access learning.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting teaching and learning across the curriculum.
- Delivering targeted interventions and small group support.
- Assisting pupils with additional learning needs where required.
- Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.
- Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development.
- Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
