About the Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with an individual pupil throughout the school day, providing personalised support that encourages confidence, engagement, and progress.

The pupil may have Special Educational Needs (SEN), so we are particularly interested in candidates who are open to working in both mainstream and SEN specialist primary school settings.

Your responsibilities will include:

✔ Providing dedicated 1:1 support to help a pupil access learning and participate fully in classroom activities.

✔ Working alongside the class teacher to adapt learning materials and activities to suit the pupil’s individual needs.

✔ Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, and emotional well-being.

✔ Supporting both academic development and social interaction.

✔ Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to ensure the pupil receives the best possible support.

This position offers excellent hands-on experience for anyone considering a future career in education, psychology, child development, speech and language therapy, or related fields.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a caring, proactive, and adaptable individual who is passionate about supporting children’s development.

You will ideally have:

✔ Experience supporting children on a 1:1 basis or within small groups.

✔ Experience working with pupils with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, or learning difficulties (desirable but not essential).

✔ A genuine enthusiasm for helping children succeed.

✔ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

✔ The ability to remain calm, patient, and positive in a variety of situations.
