Ortus Recruitment is currently working with a supportive and inclusive primary school in Lewisham seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a practical school environment while making a meaningful impact on pupils’ learning and development.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• A BA Degree in Education or a related field
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A positive, proactive, and professional attitude
• The ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
• Previous experience working with children (Volunteering, Placements, Part-time, Lunchtime supervisor, etc.)

Desirable Experience:

• Supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
• Tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or volunteering with young people
• Experience within schools, nurseries, youth clubs, or educational settings

Key Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and activities
• Provide 1 to 1 and small group support to pupils across the curriculum
• Assist with classroom management and pupil engagement
• Support children who may require additional academic or emotional support
• Prepare learning materials and classroom resources
• Monitor and record pupil progress where required
• Encourage positive behaviour and promote an inclusive learning environment
• Assist with playground duties, school activities, and educational trips when necessary
• Help create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing classroom atmosphere
