The Roles – 1:1 SEN Support & Flexible Working

We are currently recruiting for two dedicated Teaching Assistant roles:

  • Year 5 – Supporting a pupil with learning challenges and emotional regulation needs
  • Year 3 or 4 – Supporting a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), focusing on communication, structure, and engagement

Alongside your 1:1 role, you may also be asked to support in the school’s specialist SEN provision, which caters to pupils from EYFS to KS2 with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 SEN support tailored to individual needs
  • Help children with ASC, SEMH, and speech & language difficulties
  • Support pupils in accessing learning and managing behaviour positively
  • Work flexibly across year groups and settings (mainstream and SEN base)
  • Follow EHCP targets and contribute to regular review meetings
  • Collaborate with class teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 6 months’ experience working with children in a school or childcare setting
  • Strong understanding of SEN, particularly ASC, SEMH, and communication needs
  • Confident, adaptable, and calm in the classroom
  • Flexible to support across different year groups and learning needs
  • PECS, Makaton, or Team Teach training is a plus (not essential)
