Ortus Recruitment is working in partnership with a highly supportive and inclusive mainstream primary school in Ealing (W5) to appoint two full-time 1:1 Teaching Assistants for long-term roles starting this September 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for both graduates and experienced TAs to gain hands-on classroom experience while supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and additional learning needs.

The Teaching Assistant Roles

Role 1 – Year 2 (KS1) – 1:1 Autism Support
Join the Year 2 team to support a pupil with ASC who thrives on routine, visual cues, and consistent adult support. You’ll help the child remain focused, emotionally regulated, and engaged throughout the day. Patience, clear communication, and a calm manner are essential.

Role 2 – Year 4 (KS2) – 1:1 Support: ASC + Below Curriculum Level
Work 1:1 with a pupil in Year 4 with autism who is also working significantly below age-related expectations. You’ll adapt tasks, provide repetition and structured activities, and help them feel confident and secure in their learning. Previous experience in a SEND setting or academic support is beneficial but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 classroom support tailored to the needs of the child
  • Work closely with the class teacherSENCO, and outside professionals
  • Support emotional regulation, social skills and communication
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the child’s developmental level
  • Follow EHCP targets and monitor progress

Ideal Candidate

  • Graduates welcome to apply – especially in Psychology, Education, or related fields
  • Experience with ASC, learning difficulties, or challenging behaviour (desirable but not essential)
  • Calm, patient, and proactive with excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable working 1:1 and adapting learning strategies
  • Training in PECSMakaton, or Team Teach is a bonus but not required
