Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils requiring additional guidance
  • Supporting children with SEMH needs, Autism, ADHD, and other additional learning needs
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
  • Supporting pupils both inside and outside of the classroom
  • Promoting confidence, independence, and engagement in learning
  • Helping to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive school environment

About the Pupils

The schools are seeking compassionate individuals who can support children with a range of needs, including:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Speech and Language difficulties
  • Behavioural challenges
  • Pupils requiring additional emotional support

Many of these children thrive when provided with consistency, patience, and strong positive role models.

What We’re Looking For

Successful candidates will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, mentoring, coaching, care, or similar settings
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s development and wellbeing
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
  • A commitment to a full-time role from an immediate start or September 2026

  • Long-term and full-time opportunities with potential for permanent positions
  • Supportive leadership teams and welcoming school communities
  • Excellent experience for aspiring teachers, educational psychologists, counsellors, and other education professionals
  • Ongoing support and guidance from a dedicated Ortus Recruitment consultant

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people while developing valuable experience within a primary school setting.
