Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant
Ortus Recruitment is currently working alongside a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Vauxhall that is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join their experienced support team. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the senco to provide targeted support for pupils who require additional guidance, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and develop positive relationships within the school community.
The Role
As a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom, ensuring they remain engaged, motivated, and able to access their education successfully.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with behavioural, emotional, or additional learning needs
- Implementing positive behaviour strategies and restorative approaches to encourage engagement and self-regulation
- Supporting pupils who may experience difficulties with social interaction, emotional regulation, or classroom routines
- Assisting teachers in delivering lessons and adapting learning activities where appropriate
- Monitoring pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing, maintaining accurate records when required
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
- Encouraging independence, resilience, and confidence within learning environments
- Supporting the school’s inclusive ethos and commitment to pupil wellbeing
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals to ensure pupils receive appropriate support

- Strong organisational and record-keeping abilities
