Ortus recruitment is closely working with a 2-form entry mainstream primary school who seek an experienced Classroom Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 Class (KS2). Our partnered mainstream primary school is based in Crystal Palace, has a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating and have a friendly team of staff who are supporting and will make you feel very welcome and valued from day one. This role will be a full-time position (Monday to Friday, 08:30 am – 15:00 pm) and they need a candidate who is prepared to support the year 6 class immediately.

Previous experience with supporting Autism in a school-based environment would be advantageous, but we still encourage applicants with relevant qualifications and experience working with children. This is a teaching assistant role that involves 1:1 with a child with ASD for a limited amount of time during the day, then supporting the year 6 class generally.

Requirements:

• A degree or relevant qualifications in Education, Maths, English, Sciences, Psychology, Drama, or Performing Arts or related field
• Strong understanding of working with children/ young people, e.g., Youth Work, Mentoring, Tutoring, Childcare, Voluntarily
• Autism Awareness
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must be able to undergo a full Enhanced DBS check
