Ortus Recruitment are currently seeking for a Graduate Learning Mentor with experience working with children aged 4 – 11 years old. Our partnered mainstream primary school based in Putney specifically wants a Learning Mentor that is flexible and confident working with different year groups. Candidates will need to be familiar with the KS1/KS2 curriculum as you may be assigned to work with a child on a 1:1 basis or deliver a lesson to an intervention group.

Candidate Requirements – Learning Mentor:

• Hold a teaching qualification or be degree educated.
• Previous experience in a primary school with excellent knowledge of the curriculum
• Phonics Trained
• SEN experience – Speech & Language (SLCN) Autism (ASC), SEMH, Dyslexia
• Friendly, empathetic, and motivating
• Attentive to needs of pupils
• Aware of social barriers that pupils may face during their time at school
• Reliable and committed fully to each lesson assisted

Responsibilities:

• Aiding the pupils and teacher in the learning environment
• Creating a fun and stimulating supporting environment
• Able to encourage children to be confident in the classroom
• Considering all pupils as individuals and adapting to ensure optimal outcomes for all
• Other requirements such as assisting during lunch times
