KS1 Behaviour Mentor

Ortus Recruitment is currently working with a supportive and inclusive primary school in Wandsworth that is seeking a dedicated KS1 Behaviour Mentor to join their team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, or experienced Behaviour Mentors looking to gain valuable experience within education. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support, helping them develop positive relationships, improve engagement in learning, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

The Role

  • Supporting KS1 pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils to promote emotional wellbeing.
  • Assisting pupils in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.
  • Delivering targeted interventions focused on behaviour, social skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Supporting pupils with EHCP targets and individual learning plans.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals.
  • Promoting positive behaviour strategies throughout the school day.
  • Providing support across different year groups when required.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning environments and pupil needs.
  • Previous experience in a school, youth work, mentoring, or support setting is desirable.
  • Team Teach training is beneficial but not essential.

What the School Offers

  • £93 – £110 PAYE per day, depending on experience.
  • Full-time position, Monday to Friday.
  • Working hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm.
