Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant ready to take the next step in your career?

Ortus Recruitment is working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive mainstream primary school in Streatham Hill who are looking to welcome a SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team starting from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who’s passionate about supporting children with additional needs and is confident leading small group and 1:1 interventions, as well as stepping in to support whole-class teaching when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Supporting children with a range of special educational needs across the primary age range
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to plan and deliver targeted interventions
• Leading small groups and 1:1 sessions to help pupils access learning and meet their individual goals
• Taking initiative in managing behaviour and maintaining a positive, supportive classroom environment
• Confidently stepping in to lead lessons using the teacher’s plans when required

About you:

• Experience working with SEN in childcare/youth settings
• You’re calm, patient, and understand the importance of adapting your approach to meet individual needs
• You have a strong academic background – ideally a 2:1 degree in Psychology, Education or a related subject
• You’re considering a long-term career in education, possibly even teacher training in the future
• Most importantly, you genuinely care about helping children thrive
