Special Needs Teaching Assistant

We have an exciting Special Needs Teaching Assistant opportunity based in a friendly, inclusive primary school in Earlsfield. This is a full-time, long-term position, ideal for someone who wants to gain valuable experience in a supportive school while working 1:1 with a child with Autism and Speech & Language needs in a Year 5 class.
This role would be perfect for someone with experience or a keen interest in working with children with SEN, particularly Autism. Whether you’re looking to gain experience before pursuing teacher training or simply want a rewarding role where you can truly make an impact, this is the role for you.
Key Details:
- Earlsfield, Wandsworth Borough
- £89 – £105 per day (PAYE – no umbrella or agency deductions)
- Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm
- Start date: Immediate
- Contract type: Full time, long term
About the Role:
- Working 1:1 with a child in Year 5 with Autism and communication needs
- Supporting the child with tailored interventions and classroom activities
- Helping to implement strategies from the SENCo and external therapists
- Collaborating with the class teacher and wider staff to ensure the best possible support
- Creating a calm, nurturing learning environment
What We’re Looking For:
- Someone kind, calm, and committed to supporting children with additional needs
- Previous experience with SEN (particularly Autism) is desirable but not essential
- A positive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- An interest in education and a desire to make a lasting impact
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
