Ortus Recruitment is proud to be working with a welcoming and well-resourced mainstream primary school based in Richmond, who are seeking a Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is a full-time position, ideal for someone passionate about supporting children’s learning and development, both academically and pastorally. In this role, you will work closely with the Year 2 class teacher to help pupils reach their full potential by providing targeted support within the classroom, assisting with learning activities, and contributing to the overall learning environment.

Main Responsibilities Include:

Supporting Pupils

• Clarifying and explaining instructions to pupils
• Helping children use equipment and materials effectively
• Motivating and encouraging pupils across subject areas
• Supporting learning in literacy, numeracy, reading, handwriting, and more
• Helping pupils stay focused and complete work
• Supporting physical needs while promoting independence
• Helping implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
• Promoting self-esteem and encouraging inclusion for all pupils
• Establishing positive relationships with pupils

Supporting Teaching

• Assisting with small group activities or full-class support
• Participating in cover arrangements where needed
• Supporting the development of learning resources
• Assisting with classroom organisation, displays, and administrative tasks
• Supporting discussions around pupil progress and wellbeing
• Helping with personal or medical needs as required

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous experience working with primary-aged children
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A calm, positive, and proactive attitude
• A genuine passion for education and child development
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Level 2 or above)
