Ortus Recruitment is working closely with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brixton that is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team in September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to provide 1:1 support for a pupil in class, helping to make a meaningful difference to their daily school experience. The role will focus on supporting a young girl in a KS1 class who has additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The ideal candidate will be patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic about helping children overcome barriers to learning, both educationally and emotionally.

Your Role Will Include:

• Providing 1:1 support in class for a pupil with ASD to help them access learning across the curriculum
• Working alongside the class teacher to implement personalised learning strategies
• Helping with emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour
• Delivering targeted interventions where needed
• Supporting with transitions and building routines to create a sense of security
• Communicating progress regularly with staff and parents/carers

What We’re Looking For:

• A calm, caring and consistent presence in the classroom
• Previous experience working with SEND children, ideally with ASD
• A passion for helping young people to thrive
• A team player who is proactive and positive
• Someone available for a trial before the end of the current academic year

The Details:

• Location: Brixton, Lambeth
• Start Date: September 2025
• Trial: Must be available to trial before the academic year ends
• Contract Type: Full Time – Long Term
• Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm
• Pay: £89 – £105 per day (PAYE – no umbrella deductions)
