Ortus Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school based in Kennington, who are seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting pupils’ academic and personal development in a nurturing school setting. The school is looking for a committed and proactive individual to support a range of pupils across KS1 and KS2. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping children particularly those with additional needs access the curriculum and thrive both socially and emotionally.

Please note: While the role starts in September 2025, shortlisted candidates must be available to trial before the end of the academic year.

The Role

• Supporting pupils across various subjects, with a focus on those who may require extra support, including children with SEND.
• Delivering small group interventions and in-class support, tailored to the needs of individual pupils.
• Helping to create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment in line with school values.
• Supporting the class teacher with lesson preparation, behaviour management, and daily classroom routines.
• Participating in extracurricular and enrichment activities to promote wider learning opportunities.

• Location: Kennington, London Borough of Lambeth
• Start Date: September 2025
• Trial Period: Candidates must be available to trial before the end of the 2024/25 academic year
• Contract: Long-term
• Working Hours: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm (Full Time)
• Pay: £89 – £105 per day (PAYE – No umbrella fees)

Requirements

• Experience working with primary-aged children or a strong interest in education
• A proactive, adaptable and patient approach to supporting learning
• A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
• Right to Work in the UK
• Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
• Two professional references
